Oeschinensee - Alps

Here's another photo from a day-long snow hike on a March 1st, a few years back. Our packed lunch - turnaround point was the Oeschinensee, a small, winter-frozen mountain lake. It is just down the hill from where I took this photo. The hike was all uphill to that point. The Oeschinensee is not reachable by automobile in any season.

The alps shown are part of a group that partly ring the Oeschinensee. In summer their snows melt a bit and produce numerous waterfalls that feed the lake. Yes, that's as beautiful as it sounds. I need to find my summer photos of Oeschinensee.

Location: near the Oeschinensee, above the village of Kandersteg, Canton Berne, Switzerland.
