Miner bee Portrait
Technique: I found this Miner Bee passed out in one of my flowers before sunset. Since I planned to stay up late I waited until around Midnight to photograph it hoping the temps would cool down and the critter would stay asleep. Although it did wake up and walk around a Lavender stalk I just waited until it settled back down to photograph it. I placed an artificial flower in the background to keep it from being black.
Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 200 with highlight tone priority) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (around 4x) + a diffused MT-24EX (both flash heads on the Canon flash mount, E-TTL metering with -1 2/3 FEC). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.
