Slow & Steady

Green Heron (a.k.a. Little Green Heron; Butorides virescens) - Black Point Drive, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Titusville, Florida

Slow and steady wins the meal.

And the same technique I use to sneak up on perched dragonflies for close macro work.

After lookin' at how fast this guy swallowed it's catch,

I figured it must have been thrown out of the nest before it's mom taught it to chew it's food!

Note:

After watching this video several times I couldn't help but be amazed how the Greenie holds it's body stone cold still while adjusting it's legs to account for the sinking footing as it transfers it's weight from one foot to the other.
