Carlos Lopes Pavilion
Carlos Lopes Pavilion is located in the Parque Eduardo VII parish of São Sebastião da Pedreira , in Lisbon .
The building, designed by architects William and Carlos Rebello de Andrade and Alfredo Asuncion Santos , was first built in Brazil for the Great International Exhibition in Rio de Janeiro , opening on 21 May 1923 .
Was later rebuilt in Lisbon, and called Palace of Expositions. The opening took place on 3 October 1932 with the Portuguese Grand Industrial Exposition .
Was adapted to receive sporting events in 1946, having played there for the World Cup Hockey in 1947.
In 1984, changes its name in honor of the Portuguese athlete Carlos Lopes .
Was closed in 2003.
In 2008 it was decided to transform the building at the National Museum of Sport.
