the view from down here...{22/52}

Yesterday, I went to an impromptu Chicago Area Photowalks meetup. It ended up being just two of us. Robert Martinez and I met at the Chicago Theater and headed down and shot along the river, then back up along Michigan Avenue. It was a gorgeous day downtown and we decided to head over to Millennium Park.

After taking this shot, I found Robert was talking to another photographer. He introduced us and it turned out to be JC Projekt . We spent the rest of the evening talking photography and gear and shooting The Bean. And, at the boy's request, we also had fun shooting a 17 year old exchange student from Germany whose camera batteries had died out and wanted to get some shots of himself at The Bean.

It was a really fun afternoon/evening, Robert and JC!! Thanks! I'll be posting some of my shots over the next few days. I've got to get out now and get ready for our Fourth of July celebration tonight.

This shot was inspired for this fantastic new group We're Here!, where the theme is copycats for the month of July. I chose to copycat Chernobyl Bob's wicked cool take on shooting the iconic Chicago Bean (see his shot in the comments). After July, the group will have a daily theme/signup rotation!

I slid and processed the heck out of this (I seriously wished I had a bottle of Windex and a roll of paper towels with me) so it would certainly be a candidate for Sliders Sunday, however, today is Monday and there's another fabulous new group, Me Again Monday where there will be a weekly theme for your shot to be posted on Monday. The theme this week is "something about me."

If you've followed my stream for a while, you probably know this already, but the "something about me" that this shot represents is that I'm pretty much not afraid to look like an idiot and do things that a lot of people may not. I also love the opportunity to meet new people anywhere I go. Love, love, love that.

Happy Fourth, happy Monday and HMAM!!
