Rooster Brooch
This brooch is part of my Alexander Calder inspired collection I made for an Etsymetal Challenge (EMJC) which we had to create a piece inspired by him. Alexander Calder made many wire pieces, especially large brooches. Animals were, among other themes one of his favorites. I decided to make animals for the challenge because they are also a favorite theme and inspiration for me. This brooch is inspired by my own real live rooster. Calder made his pieces with rivets and cold connections, but I made a few solder joins on critical areas to made the piece stronger and hammered it flat. I used brass wire to "draw" freely and loosely just as a line drawing.
Size: 2" wide by 2 1/4" high
Material: Brass
