Sedan [Dodge Dart Swinger]

Luckily this Dodge Dart was parked at a corner so I was able to get this front-end shot of it. One of my best friends in high school drove a black & white Dodge Dart pretty much just like this (maybe it was exactly like this --I don't remember it in that much detail-- but it was definitely a white Dodge Dart sedan with a black vinyl top and black interior, and I think she sort of inherited it from her older brother). We used to drive around in that car singing at the top of our lungs to 8-track tapes (!) of The Clash and (...wait for it) The Knack. Sometimes I marvel that I survived my teenage years given some of the crazy stuff we did at that age. But really, in the grand scheme of things, we were pretty good kids who got good grades and had nice manners and never really got into trouble. I guess we were just really fucking lucky -- that, and somewhere within us was a core of common sense (to go along with the recklessness) that somehow kept us safe. Anyway, I was thinking about these things while I tried to photograph this car. And then I chuckled to myself when I came around to shoot the front end, and the red "club" sticking straight up kind of made it seem like the car was giving me the finger. I also like how the red of The Club is picked up in the license plate frame, and again in the red bricks of the planter box.
