The Bear's Tooth
Many of the pictures I take these days are captured in and around the Beartooth Mountains of south-central Montana, where I now reside. The prominent spire in this image is the namesake of those mountains…the Bear’s Tooth soars to an elevation of around 12,000 feet and can be seen from the Beartooth Highway between Red Lodge and Cooke City, Montana (deemed by Charles Kuralt to be “the most beautiful drive in the country"). The spire was originally named by the Native American Crow people as "Na Piet Say", roughly translated as bears tooth…
