BREMERTON, WASH (Sept. 29, 2011) Tugboats maneuver USS Nimitz (CVN 68) from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility’s Dry Dock 6 to Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton. The shift from dry dock to Bremerton’s Pier Delta marks a major milestone in the ship’s planned year-long maintenance availability. With all the major upgrades and work that required the ship to be out of the water complete, Nimitz will begin to transfer from a maintenance-centric focus to a training-centric one to conduct underway operations and test equipment.
