Lone Sunflower

I received word today that this image was chosen by the Albuquerque Photographers Gallery as one of thirty photographs in their juried show, "The Way I See It." It's the first time I've been accepted in a juried show, so I'm pretty happy and moved this to the top of my stream. I wonder if they know it was made entirely on an iPhone 4. :-)

I found this red sunflower in a patch of sunflowers along the Santa Cruz coast. Most of the flowers were yellow, but a few were deep red like this one. I don't know the significance of the red ones. It was a foggy day, which created a white background, to which I applied a texture. I like the disheveled look of this flower. It reminds me of a head of tussled hair. :-)
