Sudden Snow In Late April

That old croft ruin is next to the road from Orphir that climbs up the hill at Sorradale - heading west towards Stromness. None of that snow had been there the previous evening!

 

In the background there is quite dramatic snow cover on the Hoy Island hills. They are Orkney's two highest hills and are The Ward Hill (on the left) and Cuilags (on the right). The stretch of visible sea is a minute part of "Scapa Flow".
