Looking South From Orkney's Marwick
Marwick is a few miles south of Birsay at the north-west corner of Orkney's "West Mainland". This view is past Outshore Point down to the Atlantic Cliffs on the Island of Hoy. The rock stack in the far distance is roughly 15 miles away and is "The Old Man Of Hoy". It is 449 feet high.
This nice shot was taken in the early afternoon in surprisingly nice sunny weather in early February. Incidentally the closer Hoy cliffs include "St John's Head" which is Britains highest vertical sea cliff at the height of 1,150 feet!
