Christmas trees to be used for dune buildup

These trees are lashed together and laid on the beach next to the dunes to trap loose drifting sand, in order to build up the dunes. This is an annual event, but is especially needed after Ike washed them away last September 13.

 

Here they are stockpiled for the day when volunteers get together for this community event.
