Pictures of the Fort Amherst Lighthouse as we arrived during the early morning to St. John's, Newfoundland. These were taken at the bow of the ship during our morning arrival. The lighthouse was the third to stand on that spot, and was constructed in 1951. The lighthouse is located on the southern side of the Narrows - at the entrance to St. John's Harbour. While a relatively short lighthouse at 8 meters (26 feet), the focal height is 40 meters or 130 feet above sea level. On board the Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas for a grand 14 day cruise to Greenland (September 14th through 28th, 2023). The cruise embarks from Cape Liberty (Bayonne, NJ) with an actual stop in Manhattan (a delay leaving NYC caused by Hurricane Lee); Nuuk, Qaqortoq & Nanortalik in Greenland; St.John's, Newfoundland before heading back to New York City. It was a grand adventure!
