Long-tailed Weasel (at Sheep Lakes) - Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado) - June 6th, 2023

This was a surprise! We were at Sheep Lakes (off Fall River Road) in Rocky Mountain National Park mid-morning on Tuesday June 6th - hoping to see the bighorn sheep. Though that did not happen, we noticed this black-billed magpie yelling at something under the shrub it was on. Low and behold, it was a long-tailed weasel. This weasel seemed to not be scared of people and was posing for us. Not what we were expecting to see there - but so much fun to get pictures. I read that they are also known as bridled weasel, masked ermine, or big stoat. Visiting Rocky Mountain National Park with my son for a few days. What an amazing place. Pictures from June 6th, 2023.
