Fox Squirrels in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan 87/2020 290/P365Year12 4307/P365all-time (March 27, 2020)
With COVID-19 essentially shutting down campuses all across America and the world, there are few normal days to be had. Like most of my colleagues at the University of Michigan, I have been working from home. There is also a "stay at home" order in the state that really strongly encourages people to stay in (to flatten the curve). In the Governor's order, we do have the freedom to participate in outdoor activities - as long as we keep a social distance of 6 feet. I keep at least enough room for the Holy Spirit to drive a car between me and anyone I am with. So today, I went to campus to see and feed my squirrel friends. I have not seen them over a week and missed them a great deal. So off to campus I went. I did not get within six feet of anyone NOT a squirrel or a turkey (that is another story). I did see my squirrel friend Juli and a faculty member - but we did keep our distance! In regards to the squirrels it was a banner day and I took a lot of pictures! Besides seeing all the squirrels and feeding them (with a big old bag of peanuts), it was quite exciting. I was able to see Lefty, my favorite three pawed squirrel over by the Law Quad. I also saw, for the first time this year, a number of juveniles making their way in the world. These little ones are over by Mason Hall. I think there are three siblings - they are so cute and still climbing trees very tentatively. With fewer people out - I think they were more willing to head out and about. Be safe everyone - we will get through this. Sending love and virtual hugs from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Pictures from the University of Michigan on Friday March 27th, 2020.
