356/365/3643 (June 2, 2018) - I am sure I have been 'catfished' - Orioles and House Finches - June 2nd and 3rd, 2018 (Saline Michigan)

So...it has been a week since we had orioles at our feeder. The orange was looking sad and the grape jelly was just sitting there. We had orioles at our feeder more than during any other year - so I guess I should have been happy with what we were able to see. Still, people say they have orioles all summer - so that did not seem to be in our cards. So on Saturday morning, I decided to clean out the oriole feeder and replace it with a different feeder. I took it down and cleaned it up. Then, after a week, guess who showed up. That is right - the Oriole was back. BUT there was no food. UGH! So I raced to get it back up and out it went...with a half an orange and more jelly. OK...any moment now...the oriole will be back. OK….and so….nothing. NOTHING. All that came to the oriole feeder were a few house finches. It dawned on me that we might have been catfished. Need a new batch of jelly? Well, maybe the house finch (fine birds in their own right) dressed up as an oriole - got me to get the feeder back out. So there it is...a few house finches have catfished me into getting the feeder cleaned up. Taken over the past few days, Saturday June 2nd and Sunday June 3rd, 2018 in Saline Michigan.
