Our New Kitten Sitting Up Tall & Responding to Her Name

Someone must have seen cats in our window and decided we would take care of a new one if they just left it. We found her crying in the bushes and very thin. We think she was about 5 weeks old, and there were no other kittens or a mama cat around. Though it wasn't in our plans, we adopted her and named her "Cloudy Gray." She even has her own lightning bolt across her face. :-)

When we took her to the vet, he said she was still too small to do blood tests on (small veins), so he gave her the first round of shots and we kept her in a room separate from the rest of the kitties. Now, she has been cleared of health issues, and the other cats are slowly adapting to her. She's about 12 weeks now, and she climbs everywhere.

She has figured out how to climb up my rocker and sit on the cushion with her paws on the frame. I saw her and grabbed my phone for a few shots. She responded when I called her name, and I love the look on her face here. The lighting wasn't the best, so I had to edit out the noise with Topaz, but I'm happy with the result.

UPDATE July 28th, 2020: At less than 2 years old, Cloudy Gray has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I am so sad about this, especially since no vet ever told me that indoor cats could die from flea bites. Because of my own reactions to the chemicals, and thinking I was safe with them being indoors, I was not flea treating every month. I saw no fleas, so I didn't realize there was a problem. When I took her to see why she was lethargic, they showed me her white lips (which I had seen but didn't understand) and said she was extremely anemic. We couldn't afford a transfusion and had to make a decision right then and there. She was already not eating or drinking, and she was in pain when we picked her up, so we decided to let her go. 😿
