Anchor Bolt in Cracked Ice

Hi everyone!

 

I took my bike out early one morning this January to try and find a new place to shoot... but it wound up being very grey, so I waited around a few hours before getting cold, then captured this shot before I left.

 

It's a good reminder to me of a very interesting day. I walked around (couldn't ride my bike safely through a lot of the slippery terrain as there was a mix of ice & rain) and learned to shoot other things since nature didn't offer me the landscape I had hoped for ; )

 

The object in the photo is some type of eyebolt, which I believe people have anchored their boats to, hence the title 'Anchor Bolt'.

This bolt was protruding from a shoreline rock, covered by a slight layer of ice, which was cracked all around its base.

 

It was very cloudy that day, so I decided to shoot this one in Black & White to accentuate those properties, since the color was mostly missing anyhow.

 

 

Something different for you guys from me : )

 

 

Oh! Yes, that is a smokestack in the center of the bolt's eye!

It's also where the sun is trying to peek out from underneath the cloudy sky.
