Golden Sunrise + Reed Dancing in the Wind + Swans

Hi guys!

Went out yesterday morning and caught this golden reed dancing in the wind during an early morning sunrise : )

(( SOOC, no cropping or adjustments, just got lucky! ))

(( Taken free-handed with my compact camera, HX90V ))

The wind continued to blow and finally I decided to simply capture a photo of this pretty reed bending into the direction of the wind.

To top if off, it was minus zero (Celsius) and I was standing with both feet placed on 2 different rocks, over the shallow edge of the water!

I could not position myself in any better stance to capture this scene.

So not only was I fighting the (freezing) wind, but I was very carefully balancing myself on these rocks over the edge of the water.

Just wanted to make it clear that this is a hand-held capture as I didn't have the opportunity to use a tripod in this area (my intention that morning!)

I feel lucky to have gotten this shot

(and a few others at all) actually : )

I originally wanted to capture the entire sun clearly, along with the reflection upon the water, but now I'm happy with the reed meshing into the ball of the sun, yet leaving the beautiful glow upon the water : )

The birds you see on the water are swans.

The particular swan moving out of the sunstream (to the right of it) had been centered at one point, but the wind blew the reed all over the place and so I waited for a steady bend to shoot again.

By that time though, the swan had moved out of the sunstream... but now I'm kind of glad it did, as the bird would have been washed out by the bright sunstream anyhow ; )

At this point my feet began to cramp from standing on the slippery rocks and the freezing wind was still whipping at me (& winning!)... so I had to end this session and make my way back to more solid ground ; )

I captured a few more photos from this day which I plan to share with you guys here in the future as well, it was quite a beautiful morning (but cold!)

For those who read all of the rambling above, I hope you get to experience a moment like that sometimes too... it's very memorable!

For those who have done this type of thing before just to capture a scene... now I understand what you go through!

Thanks guys for having a look at my newest upload!

I appreciate all your wonderful comments and/or faves : )

Thank you so much for sharing a moment with me today : )
