Supermoon Blue Moon

Actually taken a day after the full moon so it's waning. A blue moon is the last of four full moons in a season when there are usually three. A fairly rare event, hence the expression "once in a blue moon". This one is also a 'supermoon' which is when it is orbiting closer to Earth and appears slightly larger in the sky.

 

A clear night last night so I nipped out the back garden for a quick hand held shot of it.
