snail acrobatics

This brown garden snail (Cantareus aspersus) is considered a garden pest, but may be an edible delicacy or someone's beloved household pet. The long pair of tentacles on its head have eyes and the short pair are tactile and olfactory sensory structures. Okay, so I admit observing these fascinating snails for some time but their undulating, gliding motions and explorations were awesome! This active snail was one of many feasting on a variety of plants in Long Beach, California.
