In the early 1970s, a bunch of bohemians decided Charlottesville could use something a little fancier than salisbury steak, so they pooled their resources, bought a building and put in a bunch of sweat equity to create a French-style bistro across from the old train station. A New York Times food critic stumbled on it a few months later, gave it a glowing review and the rest is history. Behold: the C&O.
