Gone Too Far - iPhone Wallpaper
You know that Earth wallpaper that ships with the iPhone? Well I've always thought it would be nice to have a silhouette of E.T. and Elliot flying in front of it. So I implemented the idea in Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 using sourced elements, rather than creating everything from scratch.
For the Earth, I uploaded Apple's original wallpaper to Google's fantastic Search by Image service, where I discovered that it's actually a very famous photograph by NASA called The Blue Marble. So I was able to download a lovely 2048 x 2048 version of it.
The silhouette of E.T. and Elliot on their bike, I actually extracted from a photo here on Flickr of the sign outside the E.T. Adventure ride at Universal Studios Florida.
And as for the stars in the background, I used an iPhone wallpaper I found on Google Images, called Night Sky Stars.
