The Impac 707 is not a high end camera which is why I paid just $3 for mine. The dot is on just a couple frames and I suspect it is a camera fault rather than it being something 'unexplained'.

...The dog's owner has now reminded me that their previous and now deceased dog was a dalmatian called Spot.
