Palouse Falls Panorama

I keep returning to Palouse Falls trying different compositions that will do justice to the size and power of the falls and also the unique canyon that it has carved out.
My recent trips have been a bit of a pilgrimage in-between my treatments for cancer.
The traditional comp is up higher looking down at the falls and downstream at the canyon. It is beautiful but it creates some distance and with the wide angle focal length the falls look small.
There is a unique little trail that follows canyon right next to the falls. The guide books say to stop at the towers above the falls because it's too treacherous but, in my opinion, it looks a lot more sketchy than it is. So I've been experimenting with different panoramic compositions on the trail that capture the sense of being there and this may be my favorite so far.
I love the way it features the rock formations above the falls and even though the view of the falls is impeded a little you can really see how exposed the trail is as it disappears toward the right.
This is a merge of 10 16mm vertically oriented exposures that were adjusted in Lightroom to balance the highlights in the sky and the a shadows in the foreground. I like the look of the falls at higher shutter speeds so I try to keep it above 400 and that way I can handhold and not worry about messing with my tripod on the cramped trail. I usually bracket the exposures and choose the best of the three to use in the merge.
One observation about this location is that, as iconic as it is, named one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, there are plenty of unique compositions there for the taking. It would be easy to think that it's been photographed so much that there is no use trying to capture a unique image, but I haven't found that to be the case. Here are some of my other shots of the falls. www.flickr.com/photos/craiggoodwin2/sets/72157633391626237/
