Eight minutes late, CDTX SC-44 2119 shoves Amtrak Pacific Surfliner 785 as it rolls into Fullerton. Normally, this train’s next stop would be Los Angeles, but due to four days of Metrolink track maintenance at Union Station – from 12/27 through 12/29 – this train will bypass Union Station, taking a detour around it on the LA River's east bank and heading directly to Glendale and beyond. This also explains Amtrak train 586 waiting to depart for San Diego on Fullerton's Track 4, rarely used since the pandemic of 2020.
