BOUNCING BETTY

Early Sunday morning, I took Tom's advice (see Tom, I did listen to you!!) and headed out to the pontoons that take up a large part of Church Bay.

I sat at the end of the pontoons and spent the next couple of hours in absolute bliss, perfect light, absolutely no one around and it was just me and the wildlife.

Two second year Herring Gulls decided it was their mission to entertain me. Well one did, because the other one was quite disdainful of the other's antics.

I have no idea what sex this gull is as male and female look identical to me, but I called her Bouncing Betty as she hasn't quite perfected her landing technique.

To add insult to injury, after she had bounced along, her final touch down was a nose dive, bottom up and her friend cackling hysterically at her ungainliness.

No, it wasn't me cackling hysterically it was the other gull!!

I left the pontoons when bodies started appearing around the harbour and clouds rolling in.

Magic couple of hours.
