(Sung to the Teddy Bear's Picnic) IF YOU GO DOWN TO THE DARK HEDGES TODAY........
you won't be in for a surprise.
As Amanda didn't get squished when she was taking her photos of the Dark Hedges.
I know, I know, couldn't control myself and just had to get a different perspective. www.flickr.com/photos/shanekillen/5039786786/in/photostream/
The Dark Hedges have almost iconic status here in Northern Ireland and are frequently photographed.
They are eerily spooky and with the Irish love of fairytales that usually involve trees, you can see why they are spoken about in hushed tones.
This is the second time I have visited here, but the first time I have taken photos and actually walked the full length.
The trees are 140 years old and are nearing the end of their natural life. Whilst every effort is being made to save them, I could see for myself its a losing battle.
They are diseased, nearly every tree has lost major limbs and its inevitable that one day a decision has got to be made to pull them down before someone is killed.
So with my love of fairytales, I twiddled and tweaked and hope I evoke that errily spooky feeling that everyone gets when visiting here!
We are leaving early to take Sonja (Favourite Waste of Time)to the airport, so I will be around later to visit.
