01029 Complete A41(M) and M16

Another look at the A41(M)'s route towards London heading south from Tring where the only section was built as motorway. The rest was added later on but as a lower standard grade-separated dual carriageway and the Tring Bypass was downgraded to A41. This section still has its hard shoulders and emergency telephones though! Also note the M16 section further east, which became part of the M25, and the incorrectly-numbered Westway - shown as M40 but in reality the A40(M). Taken from a Geographia Atlas from the early 1970s.
