Nilgiri Langur - Trachypithecus johnii

The expression on his face puzzles me

This is the Nilgiri Langur. A rare and endangered species of monkey that is endemic to the Western Ghats. The best place to see it is the Anamalais, The Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary & National Park, Tamil Nadu.

A leaf-eating monkey, extremely shy with a tail almost three feet in length. Being poached for meat and apparent medicinal properties. Has made a comeback at the Anamalais after protection.

Very vocal in the mornings and evenings.
