This is the location of the MTDC Tourist Cottage at Tarkarli which gives you a room with Dirty Bathroom, Dirty Linen and absolutely lethargic staff. You are supposed to check in at 9:00 AM but I got my room only at 10:00 AM (Reason, the staff was supposed to be cleaning the room). I could not make out what cleaning they did when I entered my cottage. The cottage has an AC which works provided you get electricity. For all this MTDC charges just RS 1600/- per day. Even the tea served here is non-veg (it can have some flies in it). I made this mistake of booking here because of an article in Hindu saying all lovely things about Tarkarli Beach. In 1998, Maharashtra decided to compete with Goa, but lack of proper initiatives by the State Govt and non-professional attitude of MTDC staff is responsible for these beaches not attracting enough people. The hotels in Goa are much better and cheaper. As a tourist I feel quite let down and after my experience, I have decided to spend my next vacations in states like Kerala, Goa where tourism is professionaly managed. You may read the following for more understanding of this problem
You may read the following article (which hides a lot of negative aspects of MTDC)
Next time you read any brochure from MTDC, read it with a pinch of salt. They are taking innocent tourists for a ride.
