Downtown Abilene, Texas
The Abilene Commercial Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
Abilene, with its roughly 120,000 inhabitants, is a small city located in West Texas between the Metroplex and the Permian Basin. It serves as the seat of Taylor County.
I dedicate my recent series of images from Abilene, Texas to the memory of my Flickr friend and fellow photographer Robert E. Weston, Jr. ( www.flickr.com/photos/reweston-sat/ ), who passed away February 27, 2020 at the age of 76. He inspired me to be a better photographer and shared some damn good images of the world with his photostream. Bob will always be one of my all time favorite photographers. Your presence is dearly missed.
