It mimics the technic configuration on the right, which could also be used in two vehicles / structures to allow them to connect to each other. However, you know how tricky it can be sometimes getting two of those (the technic thing on the right) to click into place. And, it can take a lot of force to separate them, sometimes causing damage to the mocs.
You can also build one that has two horns in front next to a technic brick with two holes. And, that will connect to another like that pretty well. But, you'll notice a slight offset. If that's not a problem, then go for it. But, with the single horn set-up, the two sides line up straight and flush -- perfectly square.
