Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening etc.... So bird watching in a thunder storm today. If you look closely, you can see the small feathers on the top of its head standing up on end as the negatively charged base of the thunder cloud overhead repels the electrons in them, this causes the ends, now positively charged to become attracted to the cloud base. A sure sign of an imminent lighting strike... Luckily for us and the Great white egret the next bolt came down elsewhere.
