Moonlight Spire
Full moon plans didn't cooperate due to my slight miscalculation of where we needed to be located in relation to the moon rise. Right place, right location - almost! Still captured a great sunset.
Moonlight Spire is the tower peeking over the edge of the canyon to the right of the butte in the center.
While waiting for moonrise a lone motorcycle rider appeared, having just survived the rocky and rutted Shafer Canyon Road from Canyonlands NP. He stopped and asked if the road is asphalt into Moab. I was immediately struck by the quantity of goods strapped to his 125cc Honda motorcycle. We chatted while he put air into his tires for the trip to Moab. He had everything he needed to travel the world on his bike: spare tire, spare rim, all manner of camping gear, air compressor, tools. I don't know how he managed to get it all attached and leave room for himself.
His name is Thomas Kaczmarczyk, from Australia. He is on his journey to travel the world on his motorcycle, and when needed, four wheels. An interesting character, very confident and capable, and very friendly. On You Tube and Facebook he is known as Tom on a Budget if one is interested in following his travels. Last i heard he is now in south America.
