welcome to the machine ( Rotor )

The "Rotor" is one of the oldest attraction in this now abandoned amusement park.

Rotor consists of a 6 meter diameter vertical cylinder spun at a maximum speed of 30-40 rpm (as far as I can remember).

Due to the increase of centrifugal force with rotation speed, people inside the cylinder were pushed against the wall.

Once the top speed was reached, the floor of the cylinder was downed leaving the people inside stuck against the wall.

It took a couple of "runs" inside rotor before I could get used to it but once I learned how to master the strange feeling associated with being pushed against the wall, I really started to have fun: turning upside down, moving up and down against the wall like a gecko etc.

Unfortunately it was a too short experience....!

Shown here are the spectators' seats above and around the cylinder top opening.

Those sitting here could "enjoy" the terrified faces of others inside the rotor, before being bullied by the friends who were brave enough to get into it

the lead-in (and lead-out) synthesizers' sequences of Pink Floyd "Welcome to the Machine" song is the closest thing I remember to the real noise made by the rotor at start
