Low Fog Event at Golden Gate Bridge
After many, many trips to photograph the Golden Gate Bridge, I finally got to experience a Low Fog Event (LFE). I almost went back to sleep after my alarm clock went off at 5:30 am after having the usual "should I go" debate with myself, but since the weather forecast was for high clouds and patchy fog, I got up.
After driving across the bridge from San Francisco, the gate to the location was still closed, so I parked my car and briskly hiked up to the peak. I looked down and saw fog fully engulfing the Golden Gate Bridge. High clouds were also holding some color in the sky.
After setting up my gear, the South Tower of the bridge soon made it's appearance. It is neat how quickly the fog moves and the scene changes from moment to moment. After the sun rose higher the fog retreated to expose the bridge, but still hung over the city.
