april garden
the garden is beginning to awaken.
i bought the acer last year. it's survived the winter :)
in the foreground is another survivor a lime green flowered patio hydrangea and to the right bordering is blue aubretia
the blackcurrant canes also to the right are doing well and the kniphofias behind the acer are happy after their relocation last year
i've had plenty of failures in other parts of the garden mainly due to my over watering, not enough horticultural grit in the soil for drainage, my cats doing their business but that comes with having cats (i clear it up but the damage is done), planting in the wrong place and so on. if i list the failures i'll get depressed :(
so onward i've bought some replacements
climbing roses red flowered 'paul scarlet', yellow flowered 'arthur bell', and single petalled pink flowered 'rosa',
a forsythia, a clematis 'polish spirit' (not looking good at the moment), one day lilies and a blue flowered plant the name i've forgotten.
all these plants came from wilkos and poundland each costing between £1 and £4
not in the photo i've sown some seeds coriander, rosemary and lemon balm in small tin pots hanging from the trellis fencing and sweet peas in terracotta pots. i'll see how it goes ...
for many years my garden was a shrubbery flic.kr/p/Lhv9ag which i loved. a picket fence covered in an ivy hedge coming down in a storm meant that over time changes had to happen flic.kr/p/2mn2x8a i'll be glad when the trellis is covered in honeysuckle and jasmine. that's the plan ...
