SOUTH CHINA SEA (Oct. 11, 2012) Seaman Blake Ferguson steers the ship while acting as helmsman on the bridge of the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6).Bonhomme Richard is currently participating in Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX), an annual bilateral exercise held in conjunction with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). Bonhomme Richard, commanded by Capt. Daniel Dusek, is the lead ship of the only forward-deployed amphibious ready group and is currently operating in the 7th fleet area of responsibility.
