PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 20, 2011) - Aviation Structural Mechanic 2nd Class Christopher Wolfe from Madison, Ohio, adjusts a tail lockpin puller on an SH-60F Seahawk helicopter aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). George Washington’s embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5 is currently undergoing carrier qualifications and the CVW-5 maintenance personnel ensure that each aircraft is in proper working order prior to each pilot’s takeoff. George Washington pulled out of her forward-operating port Yokosuka, Japan Sept. 19 to continue her 2011 patrol in the Western Pacific Ocean. As the Navy's only fulltime forward deployed carrier, George Washington's mission is to help ensure security and stability in the Western Pacific ocean.
