PHILIPPINE SEA (Sept. 21, 2020) Gas Turbine Systems Technician 3rd Class Marcos Castaneda, with Naval Beach Unit 7, from San Jose, Calif., takes the 2nd Class Petty Officer, Navy Wide Advancement Exam on the mess decks of the amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42). Germantown, part of Expeditionary Strike Group Seven (ESG 7), along with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
