SANTA RITA, Guam (Aug. 12, 2020) Torpedoman’s Mate 1st Class Scott Mendez, assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Asheville (SSN 758), observes the lowering of the encapsulated harpoon loading shape into the torpedo room during harpoon shipping, loading and handling certification training aboard Asheville. The certification is required in order for the submarine to carry and employ warshot tactical Harpoons.
