WATERS NEAR JAPAN (July 20, 2016) A MH-53 Sea Stallion with Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron (HM) 14 tows a MK-104 acoustic mine sweeping device as the USS Patriot (MCM 7) operates in the background during 2JA 2016 Mine Countermeasures Exercise (2JA-16 MCMEX). 2JA Mine Countermeasures Exercise is an annual bilateral exercise held between the U.S. Navy and Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force to strengthen interoperability and increase proficiencies in mine countermeasure operations.
