DA NANG, Vietnam (April 8, 2014) Information Systems Technician 1st Class Tho Nguyen, assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), speaks to students at Phan Chu Trinh High School during a community relations event held in support of Naval Engagement Activity (NEA) Vietnam. The NEA provides opportunities for U.S and Vietnamese naval professionals to share best practices and maritime skills. Maritime skill exchanges between the two navies are non-combatant events, such as military medicine, search and rescue, diving and salvage and shipboard damage control. Approximately 400 U.S. Navy Sailors and civilian mariners are participating in NEA Vietnam 2014. Participating U.S. units include the McCain, USNS Safeguard (T-ARS 50) with embarked Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5, staff from Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 7 and Commander, Task Force (CTF) 73, and the U.S. 7th Fleet Band, Orient Express.
