The event was in direct support of first lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign, an initiative to combat childhood obesity. DeCA Dietitian Karen Hawkins showed the 5-year-olds how to make “fruit kabobs,” while the post’s Clinic Radar Clinic Dietitian and Nutritionist Beth Trainer gave lessons on how to make kid-sized “veggie wraps.” In the background, commissary employees and volunteers from the CDC and Morale Welfare and Recreation treated the children to a morning of fun-filled exercises that included hopscotch, Hula-Hoop, soccer, catch, cheer leading and a cone maze.
