Project 365 #181: 300618 Fan-Bloody-Tastic
Wouldn't you know it. I switched my desk fan off last night, and when I did the power switch felt very wrong.
A bit of dismantling today revealed why. This is - no - this was a four way rotary knob that controlled the speed on my fan. This is pretty much how it came out, so the plastic case has clearly overheated and cracked and spilled its guts.
This wouldn't be so bad, but it's unbearably hot today. :(
With a bit of creativity I've bypassed the switch so it's controlled from the wall switch only and only runs at a single speed, but it does move air.
Thanks to the power of ebay, the replacement switch is already winging its way from China. £1.09. Nice.
