Holiday memories glisten this New Year

My favorite time of year rests under our tree,

when most people have undecorated and heaped their evergreens onto compost piles

or at the local landfill.

I love the light which glistens upon favorite ornaments, tins and gift boxes too pretty to discard.

To keep spirits alive on this dreary day, I played with lenses while being treated to precious thank you calls and e-mails from friends throughout the world. What a glorious day it was. I feel blessed.

I'm also praying for a young man who had a critical car accident just before dawn, only yards from our driveway. Life is precious and much too fleeting.

“Words today are like the shells and rope of seaweed which a child brings home

glistening from the beach and which in an hour have lost their luster.”

~ Cyril Connolly ~

Hold on to the light,

Hold on to the memories.
