lupines of love

For at least 10 years we've been trying to get some traditional "Maine" lupines to grow in our gardens. Finally a crop has sprouted and we're ecstatic! Although they are not truly happy being put into a vase, Teddy has managed to encourage them to be still for a selfie! The stunning hand-crocheted doily is from my dear flickr island friend, Terry, in Maine. Check out her gorgeous stream: www.flickr.com/photos/native_islander/

I found this lovely poem by © Kornelia Birch

and wanted to share . . .

JOURNEY OF THE HEART

"Most delicate

tragedy

Far from ravines

Sea knows me

Air scents

Lupines of love

grow in the half light

Unfolding their

sapphire wings

Learning to fly

again

pearlescent dew

anoints this dawn

I am waiting

for the refrain

of rain

spindles weave

axis of sky

around

gentle hills

breathing

in motion

reflecting

pearlescent

painted

ocean"
