they count not months but moments

A week ago today we were packing up to return home from Maine.

These were some of the last shots I captured, with tears in my eyes . . .

for the beauty and symbolism of monarchs, also on their journey south.

I kept thinking of my special *flickr friend living on an island in northern Maine, who nurtured and documented the cycle of these gorgeous gifts of nature from egg to cocoon to butterfly, wondering if these were some of her babies!
